I have 4 instagram accounts that I am growing on one phone. If i used another phone would i need a proxy so instagram would not know I also have the 4 other accounts? Like I cant seem to hit the explorer page on my new phone even though i have loads of friends engaging in my posts.

Proxies doesn't have anything to do with getting on the explore tab. If you are sharing the connection between the two phones but you don't want instagram to link the new four accounts with the old four then you can use proxy.
The explore tab is custom tailored for every account so if your friends aren't really interested in your niche, they won't help you reach the explore tab of your ideal audience.

I believe you can have up to 5 ig accounts. I manage accounts for other clients on one phone. I just log out and re login each time i hit the 5 cap.
Another phone with proxy? I had no luck with only just using another phone

Use mobile data instead of the WiFi and you'll be fine, don't need to use a proxy (IF you use mobile data on the new phone)

You should be careful with too many instagram accs on one IP. Yes, the allowed limit is 5, however, if one of your account gets banned/ flagged for whatever reason, the rest of your accounts that share the same IP might be harmed too.
This is why most people I know, including myself, that work with social media use 1 account per 1 IP, changing those IP up with proxies.

get a cheap sim card for the new phone and you should be fine
