Instagram now tracks engagement groups

Engagement group is like the PBN of Instagram... If they find it you fucked. However the difference is that on IG if it is too small or private it wont have any effect on engagement.

I do not think this is true, Facebook is known for promoting fake likes and engagement to make users feel this is a popular platform. I have 2 accounts with instagram and 1 has 20k fake follower, nothing is happening at all....

Hmm not sure how much I am buying this. I work with former FB and YT execs and we were talking about this type of thing yesterday. Its in the platforms interest to keep those engagements public and free unless there a noticeable, widespread, platform threatening abuse. These companies regularly report AMUs, AMEs in addition to other metrics to investors and the public. Also, at least for YT there is not a "account fraud dept" it's a waste of money/resources for these organizations to eat their own tails. Add to that filtering out a fraction of your userbase ultimately delivers no return or benefit to the platform.

There isn't even anything wrong with engagement groups, why would their fraud department even care about them? Well, this source isn't even good either.

Funny - actually I wanted to start a thread with the title "Being the IG fraud dept. - what would you do?" and I wanted to include the question: "To stop engagement groups, what would you do (as a staff of the fraud dept.)?". The answer is obviouis: just enter a EG, copy all names of the dropped usernames und then ban them.

Some people doubted here if the source of ninjah42 is reliable. But I guess it doesnt matter - the question is more: "Is IG really interested in stopping those users who are using EGs?" I mean, there are also people who say ___F a c 3 b 0 0 k___ is not interested in stopping Fake News - as this leads to a lot of engagement on __F a c 3 b 0 0 k__ . Could be true.
So, if IG dont care about EGs (artificial likes & comments), then there is no risk. If they care, it would be really easy to enter those EGs.

@IGKing , what is your current status regarding EGs, are you using them? Would be great to hear your opinion about it as you have a lot of followers and successful accounts.

And additionally, in other forums you can only see threads if you are an active member (you read more than 2 hours in the fourm, you have started thread, you received likes by other members...). Maybe something similiar should be adopted as a requirement of engagement groups, e.g you can only enter as a member of the xx forum with x posts....

The problem with EG, specifically Telegram is it is often run by the same networks that create multiple large accounts that steal other people's content. Meaning, they repost other's people's work without attribution. Specifically, I am referring to luxury lifestyle feeds. They spring up every other day. The blatant copyright is getting out of hand.

Instagram does not care if other IG accounts like each other's posts. It only makes Instagram look more engaging to public investors, which is a good thing.
This is from my girlfriend's sister's best friend's brother's cousin is going out with a guy that has an ex-girlfriend's brother that knows a girl that used to go out with a guy that worked at Instagram. So, this is legit info.

As to anyone else doubting this, there are thousands of PR companies that handle the Instagram accounts of thousands of clients. And yes, they do inter-like each other's accounts. So, what would be different from complete strangers liking each other's photos? The answer is none. So cool it trying to scare new, and old users, from using Engagement Groups (on IG, Telegram, Skype, Kik, or whatever).

Now, if only Instagram could prevent the spammer from posting 40 messages on 1 post about getting more followers. That, is something I can get behind.

If that spammer is you, take a few seconds off of your busy life, and set up your bots to not leave more than 1 spam comment on each post. You have 100+ accounts leaving the same darn message on each post, you're being stupid because IG will clean your accounts faster than you can create them.

Since a couple of days a huge telegram engagement group is "off". They had about 1,8k members. Nobody knows what happened , maybe there was just any argue between the admins, maybe something else happened.
Fact is, here are a lot of people who say: "Instagram hates spikes". My understanding is that with "spikes" are meant a lot of likes within a short period of time - what happens if you engage in an engagement group and you have 2 hours for 700 likes and you have a "small account".

Just wanna mention that there are
--> more and more people who do their likes with their second account and
--> more and more EGs where you do not your likes in a certain, fixed amount of time (like 2 hours), but you are asked to like the last 10 pics / links that the members in your group have posted before you. Therefore, you will get likes "piece by piece" and you are avoiding those "spikes".

@colorme : what is your opinion about these points, especially about the mentioned EGs?
