Instagram Journey to 20K [VIRAL HASHTAG METHOD]

As you read the title, yes, I'm aiming to hit 20K Followers based on a particular niche.

[Background Story]: I used to have 10K followers on this account which was targeting another niche and I managed to achieved the 10K followers target in 2 months. At that time, there were great free tools for getting Viral on Instagram that gave me a go ahead to achieve that target. Due to Instagram policies instagram tools shutting down, i stopped posting.

Few weeks later, i revived the instagram account by targeting a different niche on the same account.
The account now have 6800 followers.

In this journey, i'll update my post engagements, each post's likes and followers gain daily. I have the records of last week, so i'll start off from there :D

Average likes are 75. So anything above
100+ = i'll consider as Low Viral.
500+ = Medium Viral
1000+ = High Viral

DAY 1-5:

Posts: 22
Impressions: 115,000
Profile Visit: 446
Followers Gained: 55

4/22 Posts got High Viral (2500-4000+ Likes)
3/22 Posts got Normal Viral (500-800 Likes)
10/22 Posts got Low Viral (100-500 Likes)
5/22 Posts were just normal.

Note: I still didn't start Follow/Unfollow thing, will probably do that from tomorrow!

I'm using 18 Hashtags each post. 8 of them are extremely popular Hashtags whilist the other 10 are normal/less audience one.

How i'm getting so many likes?
1) It depends on the quality of the post which i'm posting
2) I get quick 5-6 likes from Popular Hashtag and then no likes at all until my post get viral on a less popular hashtag.
3) The more people share my post on their story, the better the chances that i get viral quickly

Example:
One of my post took literally 20 hours to get viral while Another post took 2 hours to get viral. So it pretty much depend on Timezone and the quality of the post. Also, putting low populated hashtags are OP!

How can you have 6800 followers and post with equal or less then 75?

Hello! Good Question

As i mentioned in the post, I used to operate this account for XYZ Niche a year ago and had 10,000 followers. The tools that i used to have became kinda useless after Instagram Update and that made me stop working on the account.

I checked the account few weeks ago and it had around 6800 followers which makes sense due to inactivity. Since that niche was kinda off (out of trend), i started posting content for ABC Niche which is completely different from the XYZ Niche that i was doing before.

I lost great amount of followers in the start when i started posting content that was related to XYZ niche (around 50 daily since they all were of XYZ niche) so yes. This is why, i have now 7000 Followers, and my average likes are around 100+ which are interested in my new niche.

Also my first language is not English so apologiess and let me know if you want to know more :D

How are so many posts going low medium or high viral?
Is it really only the quality of the post?
Or are there tricks which allow you to get more likes and make the user share the picture?
--> higher chance of going viral

Dont you analyze what the trends are at the moment and then connect ur post to the trends?

The reason why i chose this particular niche over the one i was using before on the account is Trending. The niche which i am targeting has a huge market, like HUGEEE. That's why i splitted the hashtags into 8 with popular hashtags and 10 with less popular as i'll get benefit from the less popular tags which will then lead to getting my post viral in popular hashtag aswell.

Big Yes!! i do analyze what the trends are at the moment related to my niche, that's where people find it relatable and then continue to share it on their story or saving it or tagging their fellow friends.

Lets say my niche is Travel. I'll split my hashtags into 40/60. That means 7-8 hashtag would be high popular [#travel #nature #photography #love #instagood] whilist my other 10 hashtags would be less populated [#travelling_europe #travelling_uk #travellinggram]
 
You're on the right path, keep it up. Hashtags are vital to grow on Instagram right now.

Weekly Impressions: 120,726 (+5,626)
Profile Visit: 446
Followers Gained: (7,028) +28

1/7 Posts got High Viral (1000-4000+ Likes)
4/7 Posts got Low Viral (150-500 Likes)
2/7 Posts were just normal (50-100 Likes)

I still didn't start Follow/Unfollow as I have University Assignments and my own Projects that i'm working on but the good thing is that majority of my posts are going viral.

Goals:
  • Clear my Following List (1,283) by unfollowing those who didn't follow me back long :mad:
  • Start Follow/Unfollow ughh
  • Hit the average non viral engagement to 150 likes
  • Achieve 7500 Followers within next 3 days
 
My page does well without hashtags but I will implement this. Appreciate it.
 
yeah, you can do it with only hashtags because I did it with one of my accounts but I use 30 hashtags in a post.

Posts: 03
Weekly Impressions: 221,728 (+101,002)
Profile Visit: 740 (+294)
Followers Gained: (7,092) +64

1/3 Posts got Extremely High Viral (screenshot below)
2/3 Posts got Low Viral (150-500 Likes)

This is really a good result as all of it is done manually, no automation, not alot of efforts to put (except for finding high quality relevant content)

This is by far one of the best achievement i get over the past few weeks :D

Very interesting, thanks for sharing your ideas. Keep up the growth. What is your goal once you hit the 20k followers mark?
 
UPDATE:
Its been almost 5 months since I was gone ( been into hardships lately, wasn't mentally prepared to do anything productive but i'm almost recovered now so getting my shit together )

Lets refresh the Days and start with DAY 1 Again. I started posting on that account 3 days ago and found out that my audience is still pretty much active (quarantine i wonder so lol), so here's the update.

DAY 1-3:
Posts: 16
Weekly Impressions: 19,021
Profile Visit: 265
Followers Gained: 6,782 (-310) (lost quiet a lot of followers tbh)

3/16 Posts got High Viral (700-1000 likes)
2/16 Posts got Medium Viral (400-600 likes)
6/16 Posts got Low Viral (150-300 Likes)
5/16 didn't go viral (80-100 likes)

My posts getting viral even after staying inactive for 5 months is a win to be honest and this motivated me that i can still work on this account. I added content that are relevant to the current situations; targetted low competitive keywords and also targetted a group from whom i was expecting a raid from their "FANS" (which was pretty funny and got me loads of engagement)

Also, i unfollowed around 800 people, right now, I have around 250 in following, will be 0 by tomorrow and will start following people who are liking my recent viral posts.
 
Quality content, be active (like & comment on others), sometimes you wanna leave a few day gap between posts (especially when u sure u have a quality post ready), personally i stay away from botting since it can mess up the engagement:(. Best of luck!
