The Instagram verification doesn't have any ''weight'' on Followers, posts, or how famous you are.
There are many ways you can obtain that blue badge. I'll name three below:
1. Instagram app
2. Facebook Panel
3. Insider
If you wish to get verified ''originally'' how it's intended, and for free, you can go to the IG app and apply for the verification process.
They will ask you for all kinds of personal info, and you submit the form.
Now, when you are trying to get verified through the IG app, you will need to have a very strong online presence (PR), some following, and a few posts (the higher are those numbers, the higher chances you have to get verified).
Facebook Panel - this is where most of the (legit) verification providers come from.
Without going too much into the detail, you will need anywhere from 8-12 mid-quality PR articles & have a decent budget.
Prices vary from provider to provider. If you don't have any PR, you can expect those prices to range anywhere from $7k all the way to $20k
If you already have established a decent presence on the internet, then the verification alone costs around $1-5k
The usual time to get verified (if you don't have PR) is around 14-30 days and verification (with already established PR) anywhere from 24 hours to 5 biz days.

It's quite expensive & rare to find a legit insider that will supply you with Instagram/Facebook verifications.
