Personally never heard about this method with my experience using Instagram as a Social Media platform.
I believe I may have a solution to the issue you're trying to fix, if you don't mind proving more information about the method to see what all needs to be automated!

I want to repost my posts to be visible in the hashtags in the captions of my posts without loosing my likes and comments.
I have detected if I delete my caption and restore it, I receive new likes and followers even if my post is very old because posts are visible for each new hashtag added in the caption.
It's very good for increasing engagement.
I don't know if a bot exist with these functions :
For each of my post every xx minutes :
- Delete the caption
- Validate the post without caption
- Restore the caption
- Validate the post with the caption

Okay,
So from what I see from what you're looking for regular bots like Jarvee won't work.
So you're going to have to get your own software created or get somebody to help you create one.
Sorry I couldn't be much help, only thing I could suggest is to do this manually, not really sure how to automate this without creating a custom solution!
Let me know what happens!
Yes it works I do it several times a day on 10 posts and I receive a lot of likes ! It's the most efficiant method.

Interesting idea. Never heard of this either.
Should be straight forward to code.
* input: post url / Id
* list of captions to cycle through
* time period to wait
Only issue I can foresee is trigging too many hashtags per time period and getting the empty caption ban when try and post captions (or mentions). But perhaps edit image doesn't trigger these. Interesting...
