Hi everyone,
Thought I would contribute some data about what's working and not working for me at the moment on Instagram.
Starting point: 1.4k followers
Art niche (small business)
Mature account
I'd describe the content as mid. Definite uptick in engagement when I post top tier artwork or celebration of big successes.
Little to no budget
My goal is roughly 2.5k followers
History:
Used to get very high engagement pre-algorithm days
Was very successful using a bot to automate liking other accounts posts back a few years ago before Instagram stopped these sorts of bots
Motivation:
Not to monetize the account per se, but to help extend the reach of the business and social validation. Lots of direct competitors have follower counts in this sort of 900-1600 range and I'd like to make a small but clear leap ahead.
Current tactics and thoughts:
Firstly, very impressed with stormlikes, the accounts they use to like the posts look legit. I doubt it helps much with any following on organic engagement. Good value. If you're worried about people lurking on your account spotting the jumps in likes, post a few reels and people will just assume one of those took off.
I bought 100 junk followers from some other provider I can't remember. It occurred to me you can get away with this to do some minor padding if all you care about is numbers - no one's going to question if say 5% of the accounts that follow you are obvious spam.
I'm currently using an upleap free trial, and manual follow/unfollow with a spreadsheet to keep track.
Automated seems more effective, although I question whether it's really legit and the results are still very minimal. The reviews I saw of upleap elsewhere are all 1 star or 5 star which rings alarm bells, with some suggesting it essentially functions as a pyramid scheme with your account following other accounts using the service. So far I've had 5 follows via upleap.
Manual follow/unfollow, literally 0 follows back so far but I'm going to switch up my target users and see if I can change that.
When I was running another account I did spot that getting a similar account in the same niche with 20k followers to do a very good well thought out post about you and tag you in it got about 20-30 good quality followers.
I'm wondering about one of those bots that views people's stories or something. Anyone ever made or used one of them, what results did you have?
I'm going to stick with brute forcing for a while but ultimately some sort of business strategy that incorporates building relationships with bigger adjacent businesses that might post about me, as well as just er... making better art is probably the way forward, because in the end if it doesn't work I've still built up good connections and good inventory.
Any thoughts or comments feel free to add, I'll keep updating.
