You may already know that once you reach a lot of people on Instagram, your account will have a public About This Account section, which shows all your former usernames since 2017, to prevent impersonation, spam, etc.
Obviously, some of us might not be happy with their past usernames being shown to the public. I used to try out variations of my name, and all of them are public now, which can be a bit embarrassing, but I don’t feel like starting a new account just for that.
I read somewhere that former usernames disappear after 2 or 3 years. Is that correct, and does anyone know more about this? The former usernames page also says “These are the recent changes ***** has made to their username.“
