So I was making a few post, posted a video then all over a sudden Instagram popped asking me to enter a phone number for security reasons, I could not do anything until I entered & confirmed. I even tried backing out of app and it kept asking for a phone number. Can anyone explain to me what this means, I understand the security side of it but why would they force me to enter. I'm not running bots on it excessively, I only used a bot for liking pictures so far, trying to grow account organically.

Your account has been flagged and they do this to make it harder for spammers/bots.
It's normal if you're doing actions too fast.

If thats your main and only account, there shouldn't be any problems with verification

It's not my main account, I have a personal account, a test account for bots, and one I'm trying to use for marketing (the account it happened on). All accounts are signed in on my phone app, is that a bad idea? I have been posting videos with music on them I do not own but really rare, perhaps that's a issue ?

It happens when your account takes action too fast (i'm assuming your account was just created recently). When this happened to my account (no bot, manually), I filled in the phone number and they disabled my account. I had to ditch that one and started 2 new accounts, but this time I will do things more slowly.

My advice is to try using your phone 3G/4G network instead of wifi.

One of my Instagram accounts have even been banned for 24 hours, but it is OK now. I've been using both automated IG promo and followed other IG users manually from my mobile. I assume this was a reason for a ban. Anyway, I just paused all actions for 24 hours and I'm good now.

My account is about 2 weeks old, I gave it a week before using any bots. I did notice that my likes & follows slowed down drastically after being forced to confirm but it's picking back up now no bots ran. Thanks for the advice I'll try that for awhile.

I have an account that was dormant for 5-6 years zero actions until a couple weeks ago. I have had to verify my phone twice now.

So it happens to old accounts as well, just based on activity.

True enough, I guess IG algo checked accounts' activities before their age. Unusual, inhuman activities are more likely to trigger a PV or ban.
