Instagram engagement lowered after using bot

Hi guys,

I currently run an Instagram account for a DJ project I do.

I was using an IG bot (Instagress when it was usable) and amassed about 8K followers. I was getting about 300 likes per photo.

I was shadowbanned, so I quit doing everything and since then things have mostly returned to normal, minus the fact that I'm only getting about 120 likes per photo now.

It looks like my 8K followers are dormant, and I need to get their attention again.

Is it safe to use a bot that just targets those who follow me? I've seen a bunch of threads on this, but I want to know what you all advise as the best methods for upping engagement on IG once again.

How long have you been posting again for? it can take a while for engagement to come back up naturally with inactive accounts

It was a while. We're talking maybe 6-8 months ago the dropoff happened.

Your best decision ever was to stop your Instagress activity with your private account. Instagress was nice in the beginning but when it became mainstream it did more harm than good, especially in terms of engagement. Your 6-8 months drop off is perfect for recovering your IG trust score (not flagged nor under special surveillance due botting). No public bot is 100% safe, no matter what you do for actions. Doesn't matter if liking/following strangers or own followers.

My advice:
- scrape* the interacting people from your past photos/videos where you ran instagress (likers/commentators)
- look which interacting people are still following you
- interact manually some days with active people from the list (like some pictures/make quality comments)

*scrape not with your private account using a bot or similar. There are enough public snippets in several programming languages where you can easily scrape anonymous profil data.

After a while you'll see that you reengaged some of these people, because they will see your new posts again in their timeline and you will receive engagement from them when they are still interested in your profile.

If you now start with a bot again you will loose your trust score and your natural engagement will be punished by IG.
