no one knows the ever evolving algorithm but this is a basic question so hopefully i can get some of you guy's insight on this:
Situation 1: IG user A has 10 followers, gets a like and a comment from each follower anytime they make a post, that's a pretty high engagement rate and IG likes that, i assume.
IG user B has 100 followers, and same engagement rate as A (100 comments, 100 likes per each post).
Question 1: If both users post the same exact content, captions, hashtags, and everything else same (bio , avatar, etc), will user B be "ranked" higher than A simply because the number (not rate since rate is equal) of engaged people is higher?
Question 2: If answer to question 1 is yes, then do they rank higher in
A. the home page
B. the explore page
C. whichever hashtags they use (hashtag page)
Situation 2: Justin Bieber has a huge account, and its public, so anyone can buy likes follows and comments for his account. A Justin Bieber hater wants to try purchasing these service to harm Bieber's account, whether it be a permanent ban or even pushing Bieber down from the explore and/or home page
Question 1:
To what extent do purchasing likes, follows, and comments, etc etc, hurt an account (permanent ban, shadow ban, temporary ban, etc)? Because even if it was a slight penalty/punishment, it is not fair if some unethical person bought these things for another IG user's account with the intention to just penalize that account (maybe a competitor, a hater, etc).
Because theoretically if bieber had an engagement rate of 50%, if I bought 1 trillion fake accounts to follow his account, then his engagement rate would fall to like 0.00001%, so would that harm bieber's account in any way?
Note: I'm not going to do any of the above, but anyone with some insight to these things would help me alot in determining if buying these IG services will harm my accounts (i know it won't help them at all, since IG is so smart, but i'm asking just in terms of hurting).
