Hey there guys,

Not really active here but I am curios about a thing.

I own several instagram accounts that are doing pretty well
and I get a lot of offer to sell them.

The accounts are mostly 100k-200k with 5k avg engagement
and people say they will offer be $170 and that the average for
150k-200k accounts is $150-100.

I am not even thinking about selling any of these accounts as my plans
are long term, but I was wondering, why do people think these accounts
are worth so little?

Most of them exactly know the value of the accs, they are only looking for gullible sellers and try to lowball them. Once they bought the accs, they can flip them for a lot more. Sometimes they must succeed, otherwise they wouldn't do it. There are always account holders, who don't know the value of an account or just want quick cash.

ask enough people to sell for that low and there's bound to be someone wanting to sell, probably hoping for someone that had no ideahow to monetise and just thinks its an easy 170bucks

People are trying to get the best deal, & yes people undervalue IG accts really BAD! I see people putting pricing on IG accts & the fact is an IG account can be valued differently depending on the owner. Some people sell their accts based off of a rule of 10-20$ per 1k followers OTHERS sell based off of what the account is making and times that by 10-12.

Ill tell you now i'd never sell 100-200k account for $xxx.xx , Some people do ONLY if their account is FAKE or engagement is low

Yes, I find it pretty funny anyways as in the first contact email they are
very formal and serious, you feel like you're going to get an offer from Mark Cuban,
and then they drop the hundred dollar bill on you:cool:

If there really are people out there that sell their account for that amount that's insanity.

I'm referring to geniune accounts not the ones filled with fake followers.

In fact, you can even make $170 in one/couple of advertisements of brands out there with your Instagram account that has hundred thousands of followers.

If the account has real followers and good engagement, the account should already be making that much every month. If the account is not making $200 a month, how can you value it at $200?

In the real world, what business would you invest $100, $1K, $10k, or $100K, if the business doesn't make that in 1 year net, after all expenses are paid for? And, please, don't compare a physical business with an intangible business (a social media account). A real business can't be taken away by someone else, just because you wrote "Go F yourself, or posted a naked photo on your wall".

Running an Instagram account is not free, nor easy. You or someone else have to collect the images, write the headline, tags, and post several times per day. Reply to DMs and/or comments. And, I'm not even going to the real accounts where you take your own photos. Most accounts around here are just reposting somebody else's stuff.

So, saying my account is worth $2,500 because I get 10K likes per post, but I'm not making any money on it, does not make its value at $2,500. Whomever buys the account, will need to run it and spend time on it. Time is money, or do any of us work for free?

With that said, an account is only worth what the seller is willing to pay. If to a seller an account is worth $10K, that is the value for that account. If it's worth $100-$250, so be it.

I usually sell insta accounts at 10$ per 1k followers you do the math
