I have access to many sites (from people I know, I built them for free for them) and I'd like to insert some backlinks pointing to my own websites.

How do you suggest I do that so the website owners doesn't notice it?

I'd like to encrypt them somehow. I want to place my links on Joomla, static and Wordpress sites mainly?

Any assistance much appreciated...

You can use :

white text on a white background
Including text behind an image
Using CSS to hide text
Setting the font size to 0

yes, for sure, same color as background, somewhere in the corner, or text behind an image :D

If you have a multi column site an excellent place to stick the same colors are in an unused column.

You can also change up the colors by changing the first letter or number by one or two to
beat same color filters, etc. This small change will not be noticeable to the eye.

HTH .... :cool2:

I had always assumed Google would be able to detect something as blatant as using a link on the same coloured background.

I'm fairly sure that Google can detect some of the previously mentioned methods, and it could be harmful for SEO. Don't take my word for it, though.

I would be more inclined to hide it with javascript on load.

Salvia is correct but i think it only affects the site they are on so i guess you'd only be screwing your clients over.

Yes I'd like to avoid Google trouble of course.
I think that Google understand the most obvious stuff.

""behind an image" is an interesting suggestion, not sure how to do that.
