Inner linking optimization: GSC or SEMRush/Ahrefs?

For your own domain, do you use GSC to find inner linking improvement opportunities or do you use external solutions like ahrefs and SEM Rush?

I talk about the process of finding pages with a lot of external backlinks and then use them for inner linking opportunities.

My SEO manager like using SEM Rush but I feel like it make no sense, the data of GSC is far more reliable, it's literally Google's.

The external tools like Semrush and Ahrefs are useful for keyword research and competitor analysis. But for your own website, it's better to trust GSC data. There are some special cases when you need external tools to analyze your backlinks but usually GSC is enough.

If you're talking about interlinking then Ahref's "Linking Opportunities" is pretty good.
But your website should be ranking for many keywords to get the most out of it.
And yeah there's also Linkwhisper
