infringement? Redirecting websites

Is it not illegal to redirect a mydomain to a popular myaffliateurl website? I see lots doing it so I assume not.

And what about just redirecting mydomain to a website that is not my affiliate?

If you mean using your own domain to redirect traffic through your affiliate link to the offer, like:

traffic --> ice4me.com ---> aff. link ----> offer

then, no, it is completely legal and is widely practiced. It is actually a form of link cloaking and is whitehat.
