I have been reading, studying, testing etc. and I have gotten no closer to understanding anything. Honestly, there is too much free info on BHW (not a bad thing) I keep getting distracted by "shiny objects" and lose focus on what I had set out to research. I am going to try to focus on clickbank, building simple websites and promotion. I started a site on wine making supplies. I bought the domain name and hosting and have the site partially built in kompozer. I think a simple html editor will be all I need since I can just upload templates and fill in the blanks. But even that is a bit of a challenge at my level of experience. I am going to do everything I can to finish the site and get it live tonight. What seems to happen is I get so far then I find something that makes me devalue my efforts and I want to start all over but then nothing gets finished. I would be better off with 1 crappy site that is live then 30 partial sites sitting on my H.D., agreed? I will get the experience of getting a site uploaded and then maybe do some more tweeking after it is on the web. I am also going to focus a lot more on outsourcing because it seems like a very viable option for getting things done without doing it all yourself. Anyway, just thought I would share my frustration and was hoping a few "focus techniques" that may be shared from some of the more experienced :D
    Thanks
    Jesse

I know what you mean, having too much valuable information can be a double-edged blade.

I also suffered from this "shiny new object" syndrome some months ago, until I decided to just focus on 2-3 methods and not quit until I was done with them (and I still am not :)).

go to youtube and type in "rain sounds" and listen to that, helps me stay on task and concentrate for longer. and i think using some wordpress themes is easier than building website with kompozer?

Just focus on one thing; if you keep changing to different ideas/methods, then you will never finish one.

Focus on one project, work on it and get it working.. Then think about other projects. In the mean time, write them down if you think you will like them later. This will also give you a pool of ideas, so you can pick your favorite/best ones and be more prepared for them when it comes time to start on them.

It's good that you've at least noticed that you're being distracted, though. The good thing about this is that you can now tell your brain to focus when it gets distracted. :p Jot a note down about whatever's trying to distract you, continue on your work and return to the note later when you have some time to relax.

BHW is a sort of encyclopedia! You have to find what you need. I'm also starting right now...

Duude, I was the same way! There is so much information on here. Once you get a feel for everything, and a common understanding of how things work it will all fall into place. This is by far the best IM forum I have found.
