lol hostgator is over-rated ... i use wirenine but recommend any non-EIG company that's not too "cheap". remember, service is important and the cheapest providers may not be satisfactory (at least for me). I'd rather pay a little extra for better service / support.

    Vericute,

Your question is somewhat subjective. There are some mainstream hosting providers (i.e. Hostgator, GoDaddy, Hostway, etc) that typically meet the needs of most website owners however you will want to look at your specific needs instead of just searching for others that had a good experience. For example if you are planning on running a CMS to build your website, you will want to find a host that supports the language that a particular CMS might use. Joomla relies heavily on PHP so if your hosting provider does not support that, you shouldn't go with them if you plan on using that CMS.

That is just an example so I would suggest thinking about how your site will be built, if you will need database support, how much space you will need and then look at things like customer service, general support and pricing.

Maybe you can find some more ideas here,

Hope that points you in the right direction,

    Shawn

in my sight Hostgator is much better than GoDaddy. However, you can choose whatever that you think is better.

Just as TheContentAuthority said, it really depends on your needs. Hosting providers have their strong points and weak points. You just have to figure out what's best for YOU.

I can't recommend any other than host gator myself. They have been very good to me so far. Whoever you go with, look for a coupon on google to get a better price.

I am happy with HostGator. If you can wait for some time, wait for a discount offer from the company. They keep coming with such offers regularly.

I'll put in my vote for HostGator too. I've used most of the larger hosting companies and HG has been the best. Their service is very helpful if I ever need them and they do a good enough job that I don't often.
