I have several high ranking .infos and Ive field tested .info against com, orgs, nets last year. Infos are alittle harder to rank, but they can rank, unlike co.cc, etc... (which are very very hard to rank)

    My opinion on ranking is:
    1. .coms
    2. .org
    3. .net
    4. .info

If you setup a site that is an EMD with little to no content. You will see most of the time .com will rank highest, then orgs, net and then info. But the hidden bonus of having an info is that if your site is an EMD of a keyword (ex. EMD: linksysrouters.com) and that keyword is searched along with KEYWORD INFO (ex. "linksys routers info"), the info would be usually higher in serps with that phrase due to the EMD bonus. This was tested last year so I do not know how much has changed regarding EMDs as I heard Cutts speaking about decreasing the value and/or bonus of Exact Match Domains recently.

Depends on what you are using it for. I have an older .info ranked #5 on Google for its niche. Overall, I stick to .com for new domains that I'm going to spend any effort on. I don't know if .info domains typically don't rank well because of the .info tld, or if it has more to do with the fact that most of them are usually built as throwaway sites and not really built with ranking in mind.
