"Info niche" suitable for making money?

Hey!

I was doing some keyword research and I found some good related keywords for a niche without almost any competition. The monthly hits for those add up to 150,000 (US and UK only).
I could rank #1 on Google without much effort and within a very short time.
I'm not really sure if this area is suitable to make money because the content would only consist of infos and not sales/product infos.
Is it important if a niche is only about products and selling or is "info content" also suitable to make money?

Well, lets not forget about Adsense. It's a very viable source of income even if you aren't selling any products. In fact, most people here probably make their money off of Adsense.
 
Yea,if the numbers are really big,you don't need to be in a "buy/purchase" niche.Use adsense :)
 
I dont know much about this but if you can rank it on google and than you will flip it?
 
Any site on top page of google will make you some sort of money on adsense, if not you could always flip it

You could also consider using a content locker if the information is really sought after.
 
Make sure that you are looking for [exact] matches.

Phrase and Broad match numbers are almost useless for research, as just because someone has the word or phrase within their search, doesn't mean that they aren't adding a whole bunch of words in too which rules out your result from showing up.

Example:
Broad: new
Phrase: moon movie
Exact: twilight new moon movie

The broad match may have 100 million broad searches a month (made up number), however if you rank #1 for the word you may only get 1000 exact matches a month, as not too many people search ONLY for the word "new", it is almost always part of a longer string.
 
as long as your content is relevant, and useful to the user you should have no problem ranking and eventually banking.

however, if your site is a mfa/sniper/product review site, with useless info, google will eventually penalize you regardless of your niche.

essentially, google is 'leveling' the playing field, allowing sites with useful content to rank high without having to spam backlinks, article/link farms/etc - i know this is a black hat forum, but for longevity, white hat imo is the way to go when trying to rank in google.
 
Honestly I wouldn't. Even with good ad placement your CTR will be low.

Think about it this way, most of those searches are from students doing research. Chances are they either a) Find info and write it down and leave, or b) Don't find it and go back and/or use Wikipedia

But still, with that many searches you will still get clicks, but don't be surprised if your CTR is low

Yeah, but that's why we're blackhat. With the sheer volume of traffic you'd get I'm sure you can think of some way to monetize it;)

The content will be real and absolutely useful for my visitors.
As far as the keywords...they are matching exactly. People are looking for [my keywords] and there's no other way to find the stuff they are looking for. The site is up now and next week it should be #1 on Google.
What do you guys think is the CTR on "info pages"? Are 10% realistic?
