    hi guys

I have some of .info domains and I heard that .info not good choice for seo and for search engines but now I have one of them ranked no.2 at page1 for the keyword I target and another at page 2 for another keyword
for google one of them is at the page one no.9 at google.com
and have double indexing at google uk and diffrent positions at the other google domains like .ca

the question now is the .info domains are really good for seo and it worth the effort ? , can I get higher ranking at google.com (I'm on page 1 no.9 now ) ??

    waiting for your opinion :)

First, make sure your search results are accurate.

Seriously, the amount of times people have told me they have a free domain and yet they are on first page of google amazes me.

Of course they dont, they just have the customizable search results turned on.

So check to see if that is off first, then if its off, i would say well done on getting good result with the .info domain.

Dont use .INFO domains if its for a real business. I would rather say, dont use INFO domains at all.

.info's are recognized by people and search engines as informational sites or, sites containing information.

Unless your REAL business is solely to supply information, then I would look at getting a .com, or .biz to put up your legitamite business site.

It may create short term success, but the internet is only going to get more competitive, so I would look at eventually doing either:

    A) A .htaccess rewrite redirecting to your REAL business .com, or .biz
    B) Or have those sites containing articles related to your business, complimenting your REAL business site via "authors suggestion" or a good ole' banner promoting your site.

I have used .info domains. Made enough money. Even ranked high for some competitive terms. If you wanna go with .info domains, it would be a smart choice cos in the end it's all about backlinks.

I don't think that google and other search engines would really drop you on SERP if you have an .info domain...

Dont forget , content is the king. Good content and lots of related content backlinks from high PR websites really matters .

I agree, this is true. But it's not search engines that decide if a user decides to buy a product or service from his REAL business.

Not all, but some mainstream consumers will not buy a product or service from a "REAL" business site if it's from a .info. The site is supposed to have information on a product, not the business and/or product itself.

I mean, although to us IM'ers, domains are all the same, to a consumer a .info name strays away from the traditional .com whereas .com is how most people associate buying a service or product from a business.

I have a mix of com's and info's and have managed to get both ranked on the first page of Google. However, in my experience, it requires more work to get an info to rank well than it does a com.

I have seen a lot of time people say that .info 's cannot be ranked , I have 2 .info's on the first page for 2 competitive keywords. With proper planning you can rank almost anything

I also work now on two of my new .info's , and till now, I was already indexed in just a few days with all of my new pages of original content and already had a few hundred organic search visitors at my articles, per day. So for me using .info's seems good, at the moment.

Well here is the deal. Instead of owning 10 domains by paying $100, you could easily have about 100 .info domains for $100. Now you just setup autoblogs on all of them using a mass installer. Then sell the autoblogs for $10 each. Make sure they have enough of content and a few backlinks here and there.

Which one sounds more profitable ? .info or .com ?

I have no real evidence, but just gauge by the general internet ignorance of people, I would bet that 99% of people just wandering around the internet don't even look at the domain nor the extension unless they plan on revisiting that site (and even then..).

So if you've already convinced them with your content or product or whatever to revisit your site, I doubt they'll care what the extension is.

Try asking someone outside the IM world what they think about .info domain names. I'd bet most of the people you'd ask wouldn't even know they exist, let alone what they are 'supposed' to be for or even care.

That and .info's rank just fine.

    good news

after google dance I outranked .net with the exact match keyword with a page on my domain not the domain itself ::D

I hope I can rank higher
now the next one is the .com with the exact keyword
