I've been doing some research on shoutouts from influencers (mainly in the fashion/sneaker niche) and have found many of the accounts have a solid engagement rate but get very little comments, like 1-2 but then have a 1,000 likes. I'm not sure if the likes are fake, I scrolled through the accounts that liked the pictures and they all look real, has anyone encountered this before?

Your questions is vague in too general.

This should be your general procedure for any niche, it's a common sense really. Look for the top accounts see how things looks, comments, likes etc. engagement in general. Then find less popular accounts, look what is the situation there and so on. This will help you to determine what is ''natural'' in the niche.

Don't rely on information provided by random forum members. Most of the people here just repeat dumb crap one after another. Do your own research.

I deal with many influencer accounts. I do not deal with buying fake followers, likes or comments.

That said, many influencers have a varying amount of followers. As you saw, some get high likes, but low comments. Others get a mixture of both. Others get 300 likes and 60 comments.

A lot depends on if the influencer engages with and replies to the comments. Other times, they just click on the comment heart. You have to look deeper into each follower. If most of them are fakes, then, yes, the comments will probably be fake.

Brands will hire influencers, not too much on comments, but mostly on likes. The brands have programs that can tell them, roughly, where the likes are coming from. USA-New York City, or UK-London, etc.
