I think government laws will have a huge impact on crypto over the next few years, but not in a simple “good or bad” way. In the short term, stricter regulations usually scare people and slow things down, especially around privacy, exchanges, and on/off-ramps.
Long term though, clear rules might actually increase value and usage. Big money doesn’t move without legal clarity, and institutions need regulations before they commit serious capital. We’re already seeing that with ETFs, custodial services, and regulated platforms.
That said, usage will probably split. Casual users and institutions will stick to fully compliant platforms, while people who care more about privacy and self custody will move further on chain or into niche ecosystems.
So overall, laws will reduce the “wild west” side of crypto, but they might also push adoption in a more structured, mainstream way.
