I am from India too. I have even seen people working for $1 / hr.. but the typical rate would be $4-$6 depending on the quality and the complexity of the project. Hope it helps

hi,People who knows freelance sites always charge high.If you are able to find someone local who knows nothing abt freelancer sites you will be able to find at very cheap rate.

Well..nice thread...I'm from India..I develop Android apps..get paid about $6 a hour when there are projects (freelance). I also do a job, they pay about $2 a hour Too low!

Actually i am looking for a programmer or coder or whatever you call it.
I need a coupon script. Basically need to generate a new code whenever i need to give away a discount. On my site ( WP ) there should be a input box to enter the one time valid coupon, when a valid coupon is entered the person will be redirected to a specif predefined page. on my site where he can order. Untill here i can find some script off the shelf, but the problem they dont hide the url of the page where the person is directed to, meaning the person can just copy the url and give it to anyone.
If there is anyway to hide the url so if someone copy and paste the same url later they will get a error page.
I dont need anything fancy just need it to work. Let me know if you have suggestions

I normally charge $35 an hr, although I hardly work on contracted projects these days. Making products is way more profitable than services and every programmer should understand this.
There are some risks for sure but you will make 100-1000 times more doing products than giving services.

I doubt those $500 programmers even know their stuff about Software Architecture, Design Patterns, SCM, Code Quality and QA.
All they might know is how to tweak some shit available freely on the internet to do some task.
Ask them to code a complex, multitier app and I bet they will shit on their pants.
