What's it showing? Some content from your website? Something completely irrelevant?

For example, if google considers your meta description irrelevant to your page/website's content, then it will ignore it and choose some text content from that page.

Google sometimes decides to use a snippet from the content if it feels it is more relevant to the search terms used.

This helps larger pages with multiple sub-sections of the same content, rank for multiple long tails, which are actually more powerful than ranking individual pages for each long tail (and saves link building time).

Maybe you prevented Google from indexing your site's content through your robots.txt file that's why your meta description isn't showing. Make sure you aren't blocking Google and then wait for your site to be recrawled (takes 3 to 4 days for new websites).

Meta description must be relevant to you website content....Google will not index it have some unrelevent content...so make sure that and wait for four to five day..if mete data is correct it will be indexed.....

What is platform of your website?

Have you insert meta tag of the description into a page through HTML editor tool?
