Using an aged domain, but the rankings are still slow. Are aged domains still effective? What methods helped you boost authority faster?

If your website is newly built, you should focus on publishing more content first. Once the content is solid, start building backlinks so the site gets indexed faster and keywords can begin ranking.

Older domains are still useful, but they're no longer the shortcuts they once were. If the old relevance doesn't quite match the new topic, Google will scrutinize them quite carefully at first. For me, I rebuild the topic relevance and add a few strong, contextual links instead of focusing on quantity from the start

Yes, it still works and is easier than a fresh domain. If the domain already has a solid backlink history, indexing will be faster. So, do proper on-page optimization, build niche-relevant links, add quality content, and use strong internal linking - authority will increase for sure.

An aged domain by itself doesn’t guarantee anything. If the topic isn’t clear and the content isn’t connected, rankings stay slow.
What actually helps is tight topical focus, good internal linking, fixing crawl/index issues, and adding a few real, relevant backlinks. Age can help a bit, but consistency and relevance do the real work.

Old domains still work, but only if they are recreated in a way that makes sense. Instead of expecting results right away, focus on making the content fit in well with the domain's historical theme and getting a few strong, relevant connections. Usually, patience and relevance are better than rushed link volume.

The "patience" part is what most people skip. They buy aged domain, blast 500 links week one and wonder why it got sandboxed.

Post title is misleading as you didn't ask anything about indexing.
Aged domain gives you this advantage of going more aggressive but it doesn't guarantee quick rankings

An aged domain only helps with traffic if it’s relevant; it doesn’t automatically guarantee better rankings.

They're still effective, very effective in some instances, but it's mostly external factors that make them effective, just having an aged domain itself does not really mean anything. The domain's backlinks are the main driver, along with existing traffic, and some secret sauces that tend to get picked up by the gambling niches first (hint: check if your expired/expiring domains are attached to a GMB profile...)

Aged domains won't help unless they have high authority. If you're trying to revive a site lying dead for over a decade by publishing new content, then it's better to start with a fresh domain.

Aged domains can still be effective, but they are not an instant ranking solution anymore. Google looks for fresh signals, so if the domain sat dormant for a long time, it essentially resets. I have found that rebuilding the original url structure to reclaim lost link equity and publishing a cluster of topical content is the fastest way to signal relevance again.

aged domains help with trust not with ranking fast for that you will need a domain with a strong backlink profile relevant to your niche!
