I have a new WordPress site built for a client. All pages on the site are indexed except the homepage. I've submitted the sitemap to Google Search Console, I've indexed the page through Yoast and made sure it wasn't accidentally included in the robots.txt file.

I can't understand why all pages except the Homepage are being indexed? Does anyone know what the issue might be. Thanks in advance.

Have you checked if your home page url(example is your root url site.com) resolves to just one URL?
I am assuming you have a security certificate on your site.
http://site.com resolves to https://site.com
http://www.site.com resolves to https://site.com
https://www.site.com resolves to https://site.com

Make sure you have only one final version of your home page url

Did you try re-submitting the sitemap?

Is it's still trapped? I can freely try to index.

May be your Homepage have duplicate page or content...

You can use Canonical plugins in Wp... and submit it again...

Hi, I'm kinda new on wordpress/seo. My site is kinda slow due to these redirects as you mentioned above. Can you please tell me more about the final version of Homepage url? Like what did you mean by that? where can I change it? Please elaborate, I'd be really greatful. Thank you.

As per recommendation above: You have to have One home page and get reset redirected to it.
In your control panel (on the web hosting side) make sure you decided on the version of your home page and have other versions of it redirected to your core one. Than try re-submitting your sitemap with your Home page URL chosen.
