Indexing backlinks the facts! Forget pinging!

After 2 weeks on a set of 1000 urls only being pinged nothing else as part of this experiement.

There is only 63 indexed

This I would expect from standard google spidering.

Also waste of time activities for indexing.

Interesting data. Your conclusions may be absolutely correct, but there may be alternative explanations as well. So if you don't mind, I respectfully submit a couple of questions for you.

1) How were the 1000 urls created? I am wondering if the creation process triggered some sort of negative flags that would have prevented these urls from being indexed.

2) What steps were taken to determine if your bookmarking/twitter accounts were being crawled by Google? It is commonly thought (perhaps errantly!) that submitting the RSS feeds from these sites to aggregators is a necessary step to get Google to crawl the site and ultimately the sites you are trying to get indexed.

I appreciate your sharing this data and your focus on getting "proven facts". I just like to make sure that the cause and effect are truly what they appear to be.

Are you submitting your site RSS feeds to the standard places? That's the first thing I do.

I've seen Digg, Yahoo buzz, Identi.ca and cubestat links all get indexed within hours again and again. Now, this doesn't mean YOUR link will be indexed, but at least I know it's in there.

I know for a fact that any link submitted on an ezine article will be found within a day of having the article accepted. That's usually my first link that appears.

I am getting skeptical of this whole pinging thing too.

1)urls were created with xrumer different ips for the urls - they are profile links

2) Well the bookmarking sites are all no follow links so that would explain why they dont get the links indexed.

RSS was not submitted in this case due to it being mainly a experiment on pinging.

I have also bin going down the rss route on some other links and that has yet to be indexed

Biks - Digg is perfectly useable for backlink indexing they only use nofollow on sponsored links

cubestat yup but only problem is for longer page urls this is not really a option

Ezine is cached daily by google the entire site this seems the norm that google will cache the whole site daily once your site exceeds pr5+. So any links on pr5+ sites will find themselves in the index fast.

This doesnt seem the case is pr5+ forum profiles though as there was some in my list and they werent the ones that got indexed

Thanks for the additional information.

1) Is it possible that the links aren't being indexed because they are just profile links? Perhaps Google doesn't consider these sufficient content to index. If the same test were run on blogs or other content sites, the results would be more conclusive.

2) It is my understanding that no follow refers to the passing of link juice rather than crawling the link. Bookmarking seems to have lost its power to lift rankings, but it still should help with indexing if Google regularly crawls your account(s).

If nothing else, you may have cast doubt on the current wisdom of pinging profile links to get them crawled.

I can also submit that even having set up web 2.0 profiles (they are indexed) and buying BIE and BLB and using them have done NOTHING to index my links any faster.

Why when I use scrapebox and check my profile links for beeing indexed.
And I check like 100 links, google only finds 3-4
Yahoo finds 99 off them
and bing finds 40-50 off them

Why does google only finds so less?

Google don't show you all links in the searchengine.

agreed, but in scrapebox yahoo finds the links.
but when i check in yahoo site explorer, yahoo didn't 'add' the links there. and im not speaking of waiting for a week or so....
