How difficult is it to rank well with a BANS website? It seems like theres no real content so organic traffic would be hard to get. Any experience?

I have been looking at getting into promoting eBay using BANS now they have ditched the ever so reliable CJ.
Im interested to know, what sort of conversion rates I should "expect" - in other words if 1000 people clicked on your eBay "ads" have many of them actually create a new account ?

BANS sites leave a strong and easily noticed consistant footprint. In days or a few weeks, Google locates them and sees the footprint. I have found many BANS sites, both broad and narrow niches get dropped quickly by Google - using a wide range of promotional 100% white hat techniques. However, I am still a BANS fan and get a nice ongoing income from my sites.
what are the other options to create income from ebay that dont involve "footprints"..
ie: if you create 100% original template, would that not suffice for getting around the "footprint" issue with BANS?
Seems like many softwares that are out to automate the building process, and promise "strength in numbers" are really all facing the same obstacle.. The footprint issue.. Unfortunately you won't see the effects of this until you get your campaign well underway and invest a lot of time

It works well for me. I tried installing 100 BANS sites a day at one point but got boredSo far it was worth it.
were these subdomains, directory ? or single domains?

I experimented with various setups and they all seem to work. I usually build around 20 BANS per domain on sub-domains. I was lucky enough to have a few 5 year old domains that i did not use so i installed BANS on them too. Yet to see how well that work.
As for indexing and ranking with BANS, I have had mixed success so far. I think it depends on what niche/product/area you are targeting.
One of my sites is ranked #1 in G for the product, with no link work of my own. It is only about 1 month old!
As for conversions, it depends alot on your traffic. I had 3 ebay signups with one site, and 1 with another. Since the switchover to eBay affiliate network, I haven't seen any yet. But, I think eBay is still working through some issues.
One tip on setting up your bans sites to avoid the footprint is to not assign a main category for your site. What you want to do is use the "Create Store Page" for each specific item you are targeting.
Let's say you are targeting survival knives. Don't use a main category on your site setup. Create a Store page for each "brand" or style of survival knife you are listing. By creating a new page for each item, Google sees this as a unique page.
As for the template footprint, I have been experimenting taking wordpress themes and converting them into BANS templates. It's pretty easy to do, especially if you use the Web Developer toolbar for Firefox.
Quickly, what you do is take the static html (view source) from a wordpress theme site, copy it and place the header and sidebar into the header.php file in BANS. Depending on if the sidebar works better in the header or footer file, of course.
Then take the static html for the footer section and put it into your BANS template.
Now, just copy the CSS for the wordpress file over, copy the store display css from the original BANS template (or make your own) and you should be done.
I am working on a post on how to do this at my site, but it's not done yet.

now if I could just get the SAVE PAGE button to appear at the bottom of my damn CONTENT pages, id be in business.. as it is I cannot save any modifications I make, i have NO idea whats going on with that

As for the save button, I'm not sure what would cause that issue, but have you tried reloading the files? Sometimes there is a "fart" in the system that causes problems. Also try clearing your computer cache and see if that helps.
