Backlinks are the way to increase DA, just keep in mind DA alone means nothing. If they are all from spammy sites PBN's directories etc, they won't be helping you in terms of actual results as they will be ignored or even worse automatic penalty by Google anyway. So make sure you are building a good natural looking backlink profile.
