Just an additional note that no one's mentioned yet. Outgoing links matter for DR (more importantly, they matter a lot for link building in general, this is why you pay a premium for a PBN with perhaps only 50 OBL compared to someone selling the same sort of metric PBN but unlimited OBL where you might buy a link for $1).

If you've got links from 90 DR sites but those sites are linking to 1,000,000 external sites/pages etc. Then there probably won't be all that much effect.
In my opinion going for a lower DR but lower OBL site should have more benefits than high DR high OBL.
Note: This is just my thoughts and theory. I don't have any evidence to backup the last point about high DR high OBL Vs lower DR lower OBL.

Interesting, didn't know this. So if you link to inner pages, UR will increase, not DR?Seriously, why bother answering, if you are just going to spout super high level points which have nothing to do with the question
@VSYNC - You need links from other high DR/UR sites. Plain and simple. Your DR will not increase proportionately to your UR if you are sending links to your inner pages, if you want to increase your DR, you need to link to your domain root.
There are methods to increase your Ahrefs DR and UR, you just need to think outside of the box. And before anyone asks why you would want to do this as it has no direct effect on your rankings, perhaps you want to sell guest posts on fiverr...

DR = Domain
Linking to an inner page will boost UR and give a proportional boost to DR (depending on things like site structure).

Yes. Build high Authority/Quality links to your Root Domain for boosting DR. You must have proper On-page & Internal linking.

I have always thought the same, it just becomes a division of power, which opens up lots more opportunities for link building. I am sure that this is factored to some degree by Ahrefs, but Google definitely have this built into their ranking algorithm.

This is why I love the batch analysis tool with Ahrefs. You can easily paste in prospects and compare OBL. You could even make a quick calculation and divide OBL OR OBRD by DR. The lower the number the better (not accurate by any means but a quick easy to compare).
