This is more of an FYI, but recently I've had a lot of emails from 'myself', with the subject being my old password.

I've been around a long time, but recently i'm getting these threats on a weekly basis that they've hacked my account, have all of my personal information, I have to send them money so they don't expose me and blaa blaa blaa.
They're just spoofing your email address, it's not from your account.

Originally I thought this was pretty legit, but to anybody else in the same boat. It's not real, so relax.
This is more of an 'For Your Information'. No need to reply, maybe this post will help somebody that's freaking out somewhere.

Moved to the Lounge, but had one of these on a Hotmail account yesterday and it did look convincing.

Got one of these on an old AOL account recently. I did some research and found some articles dating a year back, so it's probably a scam that's getting popular/saturated on the underground forums.

AFAIK they get your passwords from older data breaches that don't contain encrypted passwords, so your newer accounts should be safe.
