Inbound Marketing (Blog Posts) and Conversions

For inbound marketing with blog posts what kind of conversions do you normally see? Obviously there is going to be a huge diversity in the amount of answers I get here because of the nature of various market factors across different industries, but I'm genuinely curious. I think it will help me gauge my own long-term plans much better.

Also, how did you do your market research beyond the usual keyword research? What made you decide the industry would allow you to create blog content and then turn a profit due to a successful conversion rate?

Sorry for being so broad in my questioning here. Believe it or not your answers are going to help me considerably.

How well does general blog content convert? Imagine a blog post about delegating tasks to your employees, how well on average would it convert for a business consultation group?
