inanchor:"does this backlink search strategy work?" - Need some advice please!

Hi all -

Was just wondering if there is a way to specifically search for a websites anchor text link competition.

When I use "backlink watch" for example - even if I test one of my own sites which has about 350 ezines supporting it with anchor text links- it doesn't pick them up - Sites about 3 months old and indexed.

inanchor:"blablabla" - seems revealing but inaccurate as I've tested again some of my older sites and the numbers just don't add up.

Does anyone know a more clinical way of testing not just the overall anchor text link competition of a search term but a specific websites anchor strategy.

i'm not sure if there is anything 100% accurate unless if you getting anchor text links to your own site, you can count them, pretty lame i know, if anyone knows how to get 100% perfect amount anchor text links linking to a site can plz share

I use the links: command but it is pretty inaccurate. Another backlink checker is yahoo site explorer. Wikipedia says it shows the most, so it MUST be true Here is a little tutorial on how to use it. utheguru.com/how-to-count-inlinks-to-your-site-using-yahoo

If you want to get a pretty accurate view on how many backlinks a site has and where they're coming from, I highly recommend you use Yahoo's Site Explorer.

Using the inanchor command in Google is best to get an idea of how many sites are targeting the same keyword(s) as you. It will give you an idea of who your competition is and how their campaigns are structured.

Yahoo site explorer ive heard is pretty slow indexing the links.

What I would recommend is a software called "Web Comp Analyst" that is available here

Thats what I use to spy on competition and check my own sites.

It will show all the backlinks a site has, where they are coming from, page links vs site links, and the anchor text used for the link.
