Niche edit from traffic niche relevant pages would be a great thing traditional guest post.

Guest posts are safer so you could say they "work better". But they are also weaker.

Niche edits should be used in minority in comparison with guest posts.

Both can work, but right now niche edits often give faster results since the page is already indexed and has authority. Guest posts are better for control over content and anchor text. A mix usually works best long term.

From my experience, both still work, but they serve different purposes. I’ve had the best results using a mix, but emphasizing on a first one
