Unfortunately the keywords I've chosen (for the most part) already have domains registered for them apart from domains like .in, .co, .us, .me, etc.

Except I have one keyword that still has a .net and .org available.

What I want to know is how much weight that carries, if at all. I'm not sure if I should go with the .net or .org or whether I should settle for a .co or something. The keyword available for .net/.org doesn't have as nice of a "face value", it doesn't make as nice a sounding domain name and website title than the others.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

I think it depends on what you want to target, more direct entries or more visits by search engine. For search engines the domain isn't important, so you could go with a .in or .co but if the domain should be easy to remember, I would go with a .net, because easy to remember instead of .in or .me.
Just my $.02
