I have built a review site in a very specific niche and have already made some sales, but I would like to improve the site so that it does not just focus on one thing. My thoughts are to make it more of a well rounded authority site in my niche. One of the ways I'm thinking I could start this transformation right away is by adding a couple new pages that aggregate interesting news articles and blog posts relative to my niche. But my issue is being penalized for copying the information. I would not be trying to pass it off as my own, but I would like others to be able to visit my blog and have access to newly released information from other sites/blogs without having to go there if they don't want to. I would of course give credit by noting where the articles and blog posts came from. Am I right in thinking this is a good idea? Would I get penalized for posting word for word entries from other sites? If there is a good way around this, or a different way to look at this, I would appreciate the insight.

i'm not too sure, but i think if you're giving due credit then it's syndicating rather than duplicating?

But how does google know that? Wouldn't it just detect duplicate content and automatically penalize me? That's why I'm wondering if I could still do or if I have to maybe summarize what the article is about and post a link to it. I would rather post everything word for word and have the option of adding commentary.
