Hey BHW, I am looking to import a laptop from USA to the UK, because the prices are SOOO much cheaper. But theres a ton of import tax. Is there a way of getting around this?

I've considered taking a short holiday there just to get the laptop myself, (its a £1500 laptop..)

    Thanks for any help :)

There are several ways of doing this.....
-You can get someone to send it to you as a gift.
-Like you said, fly over there and buy it yourself
-Get a fake price tag on your laptop so you pay less import tax
-and a lot of more ways i do not want to mention here.........

But at the end its not that much cheaper,i was looking to do the same but i ended up just buying the laptop here in EU.
A 1500£ laptop is not worth the trouble really,if you where talking about 15k then it would be a different story.
You could try to find it cheaper within EU so you do not have to handle all the import tax and stuff.

Not to forget that warranties are sometimes only valid at the original purchase region.

If you do buy it make sure it's got an International Warranty :)

If you buy it by yourself there you don't have to pay taxes and other things...
I always take laptops like this, I found people, relative or friends of friends, that live there and will come to my country for visit or for holidays, and tell to them to bring the desired electronic that I want for me. Most of the times they do it for free, but there are times that they just take a small fee, $50-$100. And I never pay taxes like this, just I make sure that they remove the original box from them.
