Importing from Turkey - What items would be money makers

Hey guys,

Yes, I know I don’t have too many posts but I felt I didn't have words of wisdom that would be useful, but I have enjoyed being a member here for many years.

I have learned a lot and have seen many members helping each. I haven’t been successful making money on the internet for several reasons, some of which may be my doing by jumping from one thing to another or not having the right tools.

I know I have read on BHW so many times that is the worst thing one can do, but when you are a bad spot and you want and need to make money sometimes it is not always to stay the course.

With that said that is not why I am writing this. I have an opportunity to import stuff from Turkey and wanted to ask fellow members, What types of products you would purchase from there?

I want to do this right, I am new at importing but have a person whom I trust to get things done over there.

The products that I import must be items that people would buy and sell fast. I have some ideas but I would appreciate any suggestions that you may have.

I am thinking more on the wholesale side to move things quickly. I also want to do a site to sell retail. I do not have the logistics figured out, which is another reason why I am here, as some of you may have experience in this.

I myself live in the United States.

Ok, I just want to clarify a bit, that my question was not only for me but possibly helpful to those who sell stuff.

What items would you sell that would come from Turkey where you can make a good profit.

This is the first time I have reached out for help and so far all I see is black.
 
Leather stuff is super cheap in Turkey, jackets, purses, stuff like that.
Find a good shipper and you'll be golden.
 
Hey worm, yes their leather really good. The only problem with that is if you are dealing with jackets
you have to worry about sizing and how it will fit because leather can be cut a certain way.

But still a possibility

In the days of yore, clothes used to be a good seller, actually, no, great seller. I don't know whether that applies now, but it is to be considered IMHO.

Yes, I feel the same about apparel it does not sell as well as it used to just take a look at all the apparel stores
taking a hit.

With that said there some things that tend to sell well consistently.

Well, first off are you sure you want to be these items? Second, I'd look for manfucaturers, etc that outsource to turkey and what they make. If they make in demand clothes that sell for a high price in the usa, I'd be buying fabrics and some of those shirts at wholesale. Also, what about the current crisis in Turkey? How can you monetize that? Have you thought about going in and selling them some noob friendly Do It Yourself projects and materials?

Think outside the box. You see what I did there right? I just thought up an idea that would make money (not a lot) but would jump start a business opportunity. You got options with that too. Power options, food options, Work outsourcing options. Hell, you could bring in a industry like automotive and get cheap labor. Worst case scenario is you do nothing at all.
 
What is your fascination with Turkey?
You say you have an opportunity to import from Turkey but that sounds a little ambiguous as technically you can import from many countries.
So what is the deal you are being offered that makes Turkey so attractive?
Who is this person you trust? Do they have experience with exports?
With the current situation in Turkey you should carry out full due diligence with any offers you may receive.
 
All great questions. Why Turkey I was born there, my parents came to New York when I was 6 months old.
Turkey has products that sell well here and are made well, unlike other countries where sizes or material is cheap
and small.

This person who will help me is trustworthy who has helped me with family issues there and knows her way around,
she is what you call a bulldog.

I understand the situation in Turkey is rocky, but when you think about it there are countries that many do business
in that are not exactly 100 percent safe or secure, no? Of course, I wish things were better there, but it will not be
a problem.

I went to Turkey last winter in 2015, met her and have seen her ability to get things done.
She has done business in Turkey before, not exporting to the US, but knows her way around.
As always there is a learning curve in anything that you do in the beginning.

So this is why I am interested in Turkey, I can speak it, have been there and if necessary will
go there again.

I have reached out to BH members because I know there are many of you who know their shit and
know how to make money. I respect your feedback and advice. The end result is no matter what is
imported if all parties are happy and making money, then it will work for all.

I am not here to Blackhat or scam anyone, this is long term which is what any successful endeavor is
all about.

Well having a connection to a country is a good enough reason as any and should make things a little easier.

Hey Soulcollector, love the name.

This is the kind of stuff that makes this site amazing, what you wrote he is exactly the kind of stuff I am looking for.

Can you clarify what you mean by do-it-yourself projects?

Buying fabric and making the shirts ourselves? If apparel is what the item is that is something to consider.

I am a bit worried concerned with the downward spiral of the apparel market here in the US, with many retailers
suffering.

I was thinking a site to sell to individuals as well as to wholesalers because I would rather sell in bulk.

What is the best way to find manufacturers that outsource to Turkey, I like that suggestion. Thanks.

Imitation Jewellery with longer lasting shelf life

Different types of teas

Turkish Coffee

Canned sea food

These are the few things which I have seen in abundant in Turkey and could be of good export value. All the best.

Thanks for the list. I may be wrong but I think food products would be a difficult process to take
with government regulations.

The imitation jewellery sounds interesting, though.
 
I want to thank those who took the time to reply, thank you.

I have another question, what is the best way to find buyers that I can wholesale to.

Yes, I have done my diligence and checked the internet have found some sites to check out,
but as some of you who may be in the know and have experience, which I would welcome any help you
can provide.

At this point, I am thinking about importing items that people request. I am also looking into branding
for those who want to push their brand.

I just want to say, that Turkey is well known for its quality when it comes to certain things such as textiles,
leather, home goods, leather, etc... Too many times I have seen products from other countries where the
product is made like shit, which is good if that is what you are into but for those who are in for the long haul
it is not a good business model.

So I look forward to hearing some of your suggestions. I really need to make this work for my family who
has taken a hit the last 4 years.
