So I'm starting a project to resell some products under a new brand and I need advice.

Right now my biggest problem is that when I get to alibaba its really difficult to know who is the actual manufacturer of a product and who is just a seller

The problem is that I need the product to have my custom logo on it and the box and a seller can't do that, any tips on how to find out who is the manufacturer? I tried to check the chinese internet to find the actual websites of some manufacturers but its all in chinese and the only contact information are phone and fax numbers (do they even know email exists?)

just put in a trade request and see who comes up with the best price, anyone whos a gold supplier should be fine.
You'll get sellers saying they're a manufacturer but doesnt really matter if they can sort it out for you. I always order from resellers rather than the manufacturer as they offer me a better price

Interesting, but have you ever ordered with customization like a logo or packaging?

Yeah only 4-5000$ orders though, depends how much you want i guess. I didn't really get why the distributor was a better price but they're ordering a few 100k a month from certain factories so get a good price and sell at 10-15% markups. Also some factories only sell to China, less sales employee overheads etc

I'll see what they can do, the problem is that I would like things like the logo to be done in the factory, last thing I need is the seller saying "yeah no problem" and then shipping the products with a tacky sticker over the original logo

And if I was chinese and had a factory I would sell only outside china, the price differences between the factory/distributor pieces and places selling to the ouside like geekbuying or alegrecompra are huge

Hmmm. Always enquire only with gold suppliers and also assessed suppliers if you're looking for big bulk purchase. Request them to mail you a sample (customized logo up), at your expense.

If the sample is good, get a small shipment to test the market first, proceed if good, drop it if not good. You can do these with a few suppliers and ultimate you'll know whose the best for you. I usually have no problem ordering and enquiring with them on Alibaba. Its a little slow due to communication barrier though. Good luck on your end.
