importing cigarettes

Hi, I?m new to this, so I don't know if this is the right place for this thread.

I?ve been looking at some of yer ways in making money and taking interest but I came up with a plan to make a bit money from myself.

An idea I have in mind was to import cigarettes. I was looking at some sites that you can buy cigarettes off (American websites)

To get them sent over to Ireland would still be coming out a lot cheaper.

Selling them is no problem.... it's getting them in! The duty??
With a small amount would they be checked???
And if they do get stuck in duty..... what happens. Do I have to pay a fine or just pay the duty on them to get them???

If anybody has tried this or any ideas could you please let me know what happened.

I used to do this when I was a youngster.

I would go to Mexico buy like 30 cartons for $10-15 each and resell them individually.

Its alright money but its a hustle.

plannin on selling them by the carton.

i'm more worried about the duty.... posting stuff from the US to Europe under 1 address. or should i have a few different adresses?

In my country the maximum amount of cigarettes is around 20 Boxes of 20 cartons each. (I think more) But definitely 14kg of tobacco can come in. If you check how much you can get in your country and stick to that amount, you should not need to pay duty as you can say the cigarettes are for personal use.

Yes just tell them they are for personal use. I used to go over to france and spain all the time and buy them and sell em back in england.

Ah wish I were in England too, 8 pounds are really a lot for one pack

But in Germany you can also do it, 4â‚¬ one pack..damn and I am a fucking smoker.

thanks lads!! ya i used to bring them in aswell...be better if i could post them. but der so much cheaper in da US.

i might give it a try with 1 carton. and if that comes in try 2cartons. leave it at 2 then.

ya.. i think the limit is only 1 carton when it is outside the EU. Not to sure!!

This is actually a pretty good idea, I know too many chain smokers here that would buy a lot for a pound or so less a pack. It's a hustle, but its good side money.

I hear ya man its crazy because in germany, your paying 3.50 to 4 euros and ur getting 17-19 cigarettes where if u get the big pack for 5 euros your getting like 24. I bet u could make alot of money, especially if they are cheap, even if u just send a few cartons per shippment and then mail out say 3-4 of these packages a day.

Edit: When i come fly out to germany, and thats usually twice a year, I always bring about two cartons of parliments with me, never had any problems or had to pay any taxes.

oh ya! before I brought 2500 cigarettes home after the holiday. got away with that.

what I mean is having them sent to me by post ( sorry i might not have said that)

money not worth, why? customs
even if you can barge in tons of boxes because they allow you
it doesnt mean that they are monitoring this.

check your country customs law, check the us customs law and check the intl customs duty on cigarettes.

Is it legal to sell cigarettes on sites like craiglist? I have seen some people doing so.

If you are in Ireland I think you will be ok with duty etc but i am not 100% sure.

I live in Northern Ireland and a few years ago i ordered a load of cigars from the US (10% of the price they are here), they are classed as tobacco products just like cigs and a posty friend told me if i was ever ordering anything from outside the UK to put Ireland instead of Northern Ireland as the address and i would not be charged the import taxes, this is why i think you will be OK.

One thing you need to be careful of though, i am sure you have had friends etc bring back cartoons of cigs from countries in Europe like Greece and Italy and they use different grades of tobacco in different countries and when they get the really shit stuff they can't sell them. Same logo different product if you know what i mean.

The American site you are looking at could be importing shitty cigs from China or somewhere and they will be disgusting to smoke.

At my country original Marlboro pack(20 cigarettes) is about 2 euros. The fake ones are 1 euro. i think in most countries the limit is about 2 cartoons per person. But i don't know if you get them sent by post it's the same way. Are cigarettes allowed to be sent by post anyway?
