IMPORTANT THREAD: Leaving India, where to go? CONTINUED!

The grass isn't always greener on the other side. You're still young. Why don't you start out traveling and see how you do with that? My daughter is a year younger than you are. She wasn't fond of our boring little state and couldn't wait to go somewhere different. She graduated college, got a good job in another state, and she comes home a lot. Sometimes the things you didn't like about where you lived turn out to be the things that you end up missing when you're gone.
This would seem out of place for some, but I fully agree with you because I had felt the same way.

I was out of India for the first time (I have been abroad a lot of times since then) and went to work in Saudi Arabia as a graphics manager. Although the work was great I was quite homesick. Then when I returned home, the aircraft crossed the Arabian sea into the Mumbai shores, and then onto over the slums of Dharavi in Mumbai while the aircraft approached the landing. I had a window seat, and when I saw those slums areas and that beach and those very beautiful landscapes which had my roots, I felt tears come flooding. I let them flow freely. Those slums were so inviting to me, the land was so dear... that's the way you feel when you're away from your "Home"...

Whenever I see someone going away, I always feel that when he/she returns 'home' the same feeling would come to him/her... and that would be such a special moment for the one who returns... it is usually the moment when they learn what they are really missing... and that's such a valuable moment in life!

Thanks!

They say Thailand is good. Everything is cheaper there, and girls galore :p

I stay in Goa and I think that will solve all your issues

The weather is amazing 365 days. You may be living in extreme weather states in North you might not know about
The power cuts in capital city is Rare. I live in a VIP area here so if you able to rent a house in capital city in VIP area where politicians stay then you will rarely get cuts. As of now the last power cut I had for last week and that too for few mins lol!
Internet connection is an issue but for IM you wont need that high speed frankly. I work of 512 kbps speed connection and I use VPS for uploading and for SEO softwares..and movies just watch online without any buffering issues(Pm me if you want to know the site name :P)
Infrastructure is amazing in the capital city. Those people have ferraris, BMWs here in the beach area. So if you have money you can afford a house with 15k to 20k rent in a posh area.
Paypal isnt that big issue here. I still get paid without any hiccups and adsense is paid every 10th of every month. Everything is smooth

And trust me dont think that you will be able to save much outside as the cost of living is 5 times higher in US/Europe. Trust me, try travelling to Goa and you will know :)

I live close to Goa and visit the state frequently (i.e,. before I became ill; now I haven't visited it even once in the last 18 months or so). I even got married there! hehehe

I can say that whatever this friend is saying about Goa is absolutely true! Great people beautiful nature, sweet language... yep, a lovely place to be in, but only if you're outside Panjim and are too hungry and looking for a good eating place, you would love to hate the place as much! lol my experience though, your experience could be a lot pleasant than mine!...:(

:)
And he can get a great Airtel net connection for less than $20 per month. Or he can get a real broadband/3g dongle and go hunting fishing online for just about $30~ $35 or so p.m. I'm paying only about $10 (Rs.550 incl taxes) for an unlimited broadband connection with 25 GB FU cap (sufficient for me) p.m., but that special scheme is no more and only valid for those who had opted for it then.

But I guess, he only wants the US of A! So I hope he lands up there soon! :)

Yea right, Panjim is the best place to be in. People are nice hear and very safe and the petrol is just 57 rs per litre..which is cheapest in India lol and BSNL internet is great here(I pay some 750 INR for 512 kbps unlimited which is more than enough) and I get constant speed and if you are going for Reliance netconnect also it works everywhere in Goa and India too if you wanna travel out of ur home/office
He might move to USA but surely he will miss the homeland and come back soon as earning money isn't everything. You need to live life too and other countries you wont know anyone too unless you have someone in that country who can help you in need..

Europe is not for brown or black people. Racism is huge there and i do not blame them for many factors which i do not intend to discuss here. It would be better for you to move in North America. Here people are different, they don't care much about race or color. They just care about money and everyone minds his own business.

If you have Internet Problems in India,
Take a BSNL connection,
Take the 1350 Combo Plan.

Bribe your local exchange guy to uncap your connection(I pay ~ Rs.2500 Each month) and you have 4MB/ps UL connection without any FUP.

Hey Jass,

I am getting 3 Mbps speed with MTNL by paying 600 bucks. Setting as they say, completely works in India.
With regards to electricity, I don't know where OP lives because I stay at Mumbai and there's hardly a power cut of 4 hrs a week. So, we have an inverter for backup. OP raised some other issues, which I don't agree with him on them. IF you're earning $500/ day, then you can live a princely life.

Paypal will not trouble you if you have added relevant details and using business account. My friends have been using paypal for receiving minimum $$$ daily but they never have had any issue. There are innumerable places in India, where it feels like heaven. You just need to have money. I have always believed that India is clearly divided into 3 sections: Poor India, Middle Class India and Shinning India.

The poor India shows the widening gap between rich and poor. The growth rate of 50-60% people of our country is 1-2%, and if you're living anywhere around them, then you'll pathetic about yourself. It is general human feeling, especially if you're having plenty of money.

Then comes the great Indian Middle class, which normally doesn't give a shit about things around them until the water goes above their head or they face the problem, because they are busy living their middle class life. IF you're living with these kind of people, then you will feel stuck. You'll feel as if although you've been sitting in a train for many years but it hasn't moved much. The growth of this section is slow but faster than the poor India.

However, If you live with people who are part of shinning India, which compromises of celebrities and millionaires/billionaires, then I bet you won't be raising these trivial issues. These people are truly enjoying life and they are beyond the common problems faced by a common Indian.

Don't get me wrong but friend you don't know the art of living. You won't be happy in any country if you don't understand the beauty of your motherland. If there's a problem, then there got to be a solution. Issues raised by you are genuine problems faced by Indians, but since you're having money, then you can easily tackle these problems. Give me $500/ day, then I will show you how to live a king's life. :)

PS: I don't intend to insult you. These are my personal views. Btw, Merry Christmas.

Cheers :)

Thanks for everybody replying. I couldn't reply for a while because of work and timezone. I live in Calcutta, which I admit have one of the poorest infrastructure amongst metro cities in India. Comparing Calcutta and Navi Mumbai, Panjim Goa is not right, what I mentioned was only a generalised version of the common issues....

Hey imperial, I tried adding you on Skype but it says Skype name not found. I don't have 15 posts yet so I can't PM you. Can you PM me your correct Skype name again?

You can also take into consideration eastern EU countries, for example Romania.
Living cost are less, comparing to UK and you can get a student vis_a easily - apply to a "no hassle" university.

I can' post lot of words because of new users keywords restrictions, I wanted to sum up a list of advantages and disadvantages of living in eastern countries rather that living in western countries.

I was actually quite interested about eastern European countries. Low cost of living, infrasctructure etc is great BUT crime rate, corruption and racism is very high. That's why it's not a working option.

no offence bro ! but not all cities in india are like that.. but if you still want to move out , UK just got there permit restriction stricter !! :-/ ,but try bangalore before you leave they don't call it the IT capital just like that ,perfect weather ,good people and internet i believe is the best ACT broadband provides optic fiber internet 25mbps just at 1300rupees and no fare usage policy crap for upload!!

If you're that serious about changing your life, then a phony marriage really is the only way it's worth it. You'll get your papers, divorce, and won't have to watch your back your whole life.
