Important ON-PAGE question

I need to ask you experts something.

Is this statement true?

"Where navigational elements are used also impacts SEO performance. If the header or sidebar navigation changes based on the section of the site you’re in, the pages linked to will not draw link authority votes from every page on the site, only from the pages on the site that feature that version of the navigation"

Does this mean that if i have a web store with main menus at the very top of the website and no access to any subcategories UNTIL user click on the main menus at the top that this wont draw link power to subcategories?

The setup im using is as follows:
1. user clicks one of the top main categories
2. user sees sub categories for that main category, user also now sees a new navigational menu on the left side letting the user access any part of the website while also having access to the same top category.

Unless you have 5 years of experience please dont bother commenting, there is simply too many seo "experts" in this world..

You should think whether Google bot can see it or not.
Based on JavaScript , if it is just hidden and Google can crawl it , it should make no difference .

If it is dynamic and menu are only retrieve when user click it. Google won't be able to crawl it. So ..

Breadcrumbs, brother. If you don't have breadcrumbs – your website is shit. Collapsable menu is nice, but only combined with breadcrumbs.

Thanks for the tip i will re-add the breadcrumb. But all pages has been indexed by Google i will still re-add it though.

Dead and buried.


Make your whole nav and subcategories with nested HTML list tags... then use jQuery to make them dynamic... that way google can find them all on the home page.

My bread and butter is online retail...
