I piss on some of Rand's retarded statements and nonsense he puts out all the time. There's no denying a lot of it is fluff to sell his moz products..

BUT.. (and I think this is the point Ste was trying to make) he does it very fucking well and he's put in years of hard work and graft to get to this point. His metrics are basically house hold names now that 99% of SEOs count on (I know they can be gamed).. that right there was fucking genius, PR was going and rand positioned himself and his company to essentially replace it.. in people's eyes at least. In order to track these metrics properly you usually need to subscribe to his software. I repeat - genius..

Think what you want of him or google but you can't knock real hustle, so hats off to the bearded, crazy haired dude.
 
Guru bloggers are not all that bad their how I first got into seo and reading this forum from the BHW "gurus" I remember I used to follow Scritty alot 5 years ago now hes banned not sure why he was probably the most mature person on the whole forum haha. Their good to start and every once and a while they toss out a gem. There are some that blow my mind at how popular they are for such pedestrian advice like Neil Patel, watched his master course wasted 8 hours of my life literally nothing to take back pedestrian stuff I learned my first week in SEO.

Rand seems like a nice dude alot of the moz blog posts and whiteboard fridays are meant for beginners but he does a good job explaining the basics I sent my VA a bunch of moz content to learn the basics. Dont expect him to pump out eye opening advanced content though, thats not his market for that blog.

As for Charles Float....100% Cuck. :P

Yeah in the entrepreneurial sense he's obviously a big success.

His hard work and dedication to this business are his qualities, everyone recognizes that.

But: very important, nobody will achieve what he achieved by following anything he posts on that white board. Why? Because he did black hat. I don't like his political correctness now, preaching the stuff they talk about on those white hat SEO conventions of theirs. That's not how me made the money he needed to start Seomoz.

That's all, I guess, I have to say about this guy (until his next tweet pisses me off again).

All the influencers have to do is stop using Google's terms for things. (Unless Google is one of his investors/sponsors?) The "black hat is evil" fallacy was created and spread by Google, so they can sell more adwords. If people stop spreading Google's FUD and talk reality in their SEO blogs, things will start to change for the better for all webmasters.

Investors will be happy once everyone is making more $$$ from the WWW without handing Google 60% of the income.

Probably not, but I don't preach white hat and I don't help spread Google's FUD either. If he stopped preaching the opposite of what he did, that'd be grrreeeattt.

Rand chats shit, shit that makes him money.

Simple as.

The same way seo guys like yourself will actually give out tiny bits of great knowledge but lacking the finite details because that's how you make your dollar.

The sooner people start understanding the content providers innate bias, the sooner they will be able to successfully decipher value from information.

@bartosimpsonio talks truth, but you of course have to understand that everything he says is innately biased by his hatred of googles monopoly on search engines and most importantly, small businesses income.

Just one correction: I don't hate google or their monopoly, I just report what I see based om 20+ years of IM, and today I'm more critical of Google than I was in the past. I don't hate or love any company, I'm just realistic. What Google is up to now is very clear to everyone in this biz.

I am seeing people formerly from Webmasterworld saying "Google is not our friend". If anyone is familiar with how that forum sucked up to Google in the early days, you'll realise that's a big shift. You would get banned from WMW simply for disagreeing with the Google rep on their forum (who later turned out to be Matt Cutts), when it was clear from the start what Google was really up to.

Anyway, just wanted to clarify I don't hate or love Google, I simply try to stay true to what I see.

I was more trying to illustrate how our views will always come from a biased view (we are humans after all).

I was also summing up how OTHER google lovers would interpret your thoughts, rather than how i interpret them.

I, and anyone who is/wants to be successful will never go wrong with a critical/realistic approach to perceived reality.
