Important Info Regarding Google's Algorithm Change

If this algorithm change really happened the only difference I noticed is that a website of mine that was listed sixth on Google's first page is now 2nd.

I think there is too much "if", "guess", "suppose", "wondering", "maybe" about this.

The real fact is that nobody knows exactly how Google's algorithm works.

It's sort of like Kentucky Fried Chicken.. I "guess" theres sage and parsley in the secret recipe, but I "wonder" how much, or "maybe" none at all! :silly:

Has anyone seen the effect from this?

Reciprocal links have been devalued for a long time. There is A -> B -> C link trading which is popular in adult, but what it still generally amounts to is low quality sites exchanging low quality, irrelevant links with other sites.

I can still only speculate, but I'm trying to work out what impact raising the value of contextual links will have immediately. If you notice it doesn't say they devalued links out of context at all. They've just made contextual links much more valuable. The reason there hasn't been a major shakeup in rankings could be that people have been focusing on easier to obtain links for a long time. What SEO'd sites do you know that rank mostly based on contextual links? Other than the real powerhouses, probably not many. Even if you can get natural editorial links, most of the time it's from a larger amount of low ranking or irrelevant blogs.

If my speculation is right, the shakeup will come when people who are serious competitors on the first page for their niche start putting real effort into getting some high quality contextual links.

I'm not sure about how I feel about the impact of this on article marketing. Technically it would make sense that those links might increase in value, but overall that whole technique is becoming less and less valuable for other reasons.

I suppose it would be practical to save our scraped blogs by topic/keyword, perhaps design special footprints around each URL (instead of PR) so that we can at least improve the quality of our spam.
