Hey B-Hatters:

I just received an email from Keith Baxter. It reads as follows:

******************************************
"Last week, I received an email from a trusted authority that
there was a major Google algorithm change.

Surprisingly, there hasn't been much chatter about it.

But I've personally verified it... and came up with a plan to
use it to our advantage.

I explain all in today's blog post"

Below is a link to his blog post:

This may explain why you are noticing a great difference lately in your link building efforts.

So it looks like good content is more important now than ever.

Somehow i don't agree that comment backlinks are less important now. That way all internet marketers will be forced to rewrite articles on topics that have already been covered before. In which way is google gonna be benefited?

Thanks for the post. There has been an update but from the look of things, the information supplied in that post isn't the truth. I'm seeing more than ever that links are playing a bigger role in ranking than they have in the past few years.

Every single type of link specifically mentioned in that post is working better than ever. In content links are great, but extremely easy to achieve with so many paid blog networks on the net.

aren't blog comments with links in them are content aswell?

So it looks like good content is more important now than ever.

Absolutely, it is...that is what google is running for as of late. They are filtering out anything that doesn't have ' content relevancy ' to the keywords a site is being categorized in by the bots. A lot of people have been having pages not showing up due to their keywords and content not matching up, no matter how good their backlinking is.

how long have some of us been spewing content relevancy to your keywords on this forum/threads?

This change should come as NO shock to people out there doing SEO correctly

is that going to affect backlink indexing?

Think about it like this...backlinking from anywhere and everywhere isn't going to work anymore, as it hasn't for months on the levels it used to. You have to change your technique and make sure that the sites you are linking to actually have relevance to the page getting the backlink or you are going to face the same type of filtering issues that we see with onpage content relevancy these days.

Google is in the information business and wants people to provide the best and most targeted content possible for said keyword category, otherwise, they don't want you on thetop of their list anymore. For them, if you are a business/service, that's fine but it is about expressing the information you provide as an authority site in the niche, not just about what you are offering as a business/service/product anymore.

The backlinks are working the same way...it is going to make a major shift soon to where it isn't going to be inbound backlinks that rule the internet but onpage content and OUTBOUND links, displaying the best resources of relevant and related content more than anything else.

Prime examples are how blogs work...the most popular ones are the ones that give the information first and offer products/services secondarily. They also tend to make more money, as well as way more authority due to the fact.

Bottom line: instead of linking out, focus on making yourself the content resource for your niche's information. The way to make money with this is to be the one that offers the legitimate information to make a solid decision over sales copy.

As for blogs, they will never go away because they are the source that started the information authority site trend in the first place. They provide their readers with information links of reference material, products and content...all OUTBOUND information links.

Food for thought.

Thanx for the info but it's been a while since i've heard that footer links and sidebar links didn't count as much as "in the middle" anchor text links.

Or did I miss something

1. Write spinnable content with links to your site.
2. Post it on forum profiles.
3. ?????????
4. Profit

honestly i think its a good way to keep people from doing what already works so he can benefit more from doing it himself. you'd be surprised how effective / damaging a rumor can be.

i guess the article writers are going to be swamped with work now :)

I totally agree with the content thing.

For an example, I just launched two websites less then a week ago.

Site #1 - Has 6 unique articles on the first page of it in blog type format. It has adsense banner on the top of the page and about 6 other money ads on it through out the page. The ads are all below the content except for the one adsense ad on top and an adsense ad in the sidebar.

This website is ranked #2 already.

Note - both websites target keywords with almost the exact same competition. They both also have the same initial linking strategy that I use on almost all of my sites when I launch them.

So that being said. Launched the same day, with the same links and very close to the same competition.

Site #2 - Only has two articles that are below the advertising on the front page. There are about the same amount of ads on both sites but the content on site #2 is below all of the advertising and on site #1 it is above the advertising. Site #2 also does not have as much content on it at all. It does however have almost the exact same backlinks.

Site #2 is not ranked within the top 100 results. This just proves to me that unique content matters a lot.

Wiz - Thanks for the useful information.

My thoughts are this:

If whatever you are doing is working for you, then by all means, keep doing it.

If whatever you were doing in the past is not working for you now, then you may need to change whatever it is that you are doing.

Simple really . . . :)

I created this thread to point you to an alternate way of doing things if what you are doing isn't working.

Interesting. Thanks Wiz.

That's why I love coming to BHW. Always stayin' on top of things.

I think it's not "sites" but "pages". If you get backlink from an article page talking about your site niche, even though in general that site isn't related to yours, you will still get the backlink. Whereas if you let's say get a backlink from the same niche, but then the page where you have the backlink isnt related to your site content, then it'll be filtered

It seems that I have to struggle more to the qualified content making now...

I agree, relevant professional content will be to googles liking and rule the first pages of google, the spun articles I have read on blogs look and sound like childs play..... google likes professionalism

I think relevant content and back links have always counted, but now will be more important than ever before. That being said, we can not totally discount profile links, comment links, etc. These link sources may not count as much, but will still be valid.

Think about it, if they were not any good or not valuable, we could xrumer the crap out of our competitors and knock them out. What this means is that you have to find a way to get legitimate "in content" links from relevant sites and back that link juice up with xrumer blasts.

I think in the end, if site A has only 10 or 15 relevant "in content" back links and site B has hundreds of xrumer only type links; site A will win hands down.
