i know you can still recover gmail account if you remember the old password and the old recovery email. just google a bit more about it, it worked for me when i got an gmail stolen.

Gmail sends an email to your recovery mail address that it was changed. You can find information on that mail to recover your account. Unfortunately, Google doesn't provide any support to recover accounts. If you can't report the suspicious activity, then you've lost it forever.

You say it by yourself. Your account was stolen. Mine wasn't. It was simply given.
