Importance of location in backlinks

Hi, I'm here to ask a few things about the importance of backlinks, first of all I made lots of backlinks all from different countries and I ended up with a PA and DA much higher than my rivals but still wasn't able to surpass then on google, after that I made a few more backlinks from web 2.0 plataforms with tier 2 and 3 with full content written in my language but still wasn't able to surpass then. After this I'm here to ask does google care for backlinks of my own country? For instance If i'm to rank for google.com.uk should I take backlinks from .uk? Have any of you experienced a similar issue?

It seems to me, the more different countries the better. Google likes different backlinks.
