Is it important to have images with content or I have have few here and there with the content.
I have several websites that are completely image based and rank top 3.

It's all depend upon content if you have a image, unique image then you can use with image tagging but it's not unique so I will recommend you can use unique content with keyword.

i have been curious about doing an pretty much all image website for a while, like I have thousands of totally unique nature and wildlife photos of mine, and was wondering how well a site would do based on me posting these constantly? should i still try to rank for a certain keyword based around them?
