    Ive heard some mixed reviews.

What do you guys target as a max size for image sizes (Jpg) in regards to load time? I'm wondering for an ecomm site, I keep getting mixed numbers.

Honestly, get each image as small in size as you possibly can without sacrificing your image quality threshold.

No 500kb images hanging around all over the place when 150-300kb does the job.

If you're using WP, there are numerous plugins helping you out for that, automatically. However I don't remember their exact name, try doing a Google search.

It's more recommended to use PNG images instead of Jpegs if you care about the quality.
And always make the images as small as possible relative to your minimum needs

I use RIOT for that, but, as others said, there are plugins that will do that for you automatically. I do my best to keep images smaller than 30kB (usually 20-25).
