From my own tests... it can work in low competition niches. But I struggle to find continued success with it.

Basically every field that Windows 7 provides by standard. Especially the ones where you can put text like "title" or "comment". But like I said, tried it several times with about 100 images and I feel like it could be random that some ranked really good because in my comparison group some ranked good as well.

yeah I've tried this. I don't think its a game changer but that's just my experience, YMMV. You can use free software like AnalogExif to access every available EXIF field in an image file. KW stuff them and add descriptions as well.

Been trying to find more case studies on this, but apart from the Matthew Woodward study there does not seem to be much out there.
Which makes me think it is not worth it..Or... It is something nobody seems to bother with and it could make a difference in competitive niches.

The best tool I know is mass optimizer. Not only it lets you batch edit exif but it inserts a spinnable article on each photo along with kws and location.
I use that tool every day.
That being said... if you have photoshop you can record an action (add kw, metadata, save as jpeg) and then batch apply that to multiple images.
I also have a question.
Does anyone have a list of the photosharing sites that keep the metadata, location and exif? Most of the big ones except for flickr strip it off.
