Hi everyone

I am position 12(Second position on page 2) for a very competitive keyword, but for some reason I can't seem to get the last 20% of the way and make my way to page one.

It's been like this for a couple of months and it's really frustrating

Does anyone have any suggestions for making your way to the final page?

Thanks

One of many things you can do is Internal linking... Find high Page authority page(s) on your Website through Opensiteexplorer and add a link on it to the webpage that's ranking on 12th Position.

And More Backlinks from Niche relevent High PR pages should work.

Hi Jigartank

Thanks for that great idea using open site explorer.
I already have quite a few backlinks from relevant pages but that's definitely where I should focus my efforts.

Thanks

Interlinking and a few good links to that page will do the trick, but you have to consider your long term strategy to top 3 where the traffic is.

There's a few things that you could do, granted the following are only ideas. Every situation is different.

You could take advantage of tiered link building. I'm not talking about the lazy, one-or-tw page, one-tier kind of building either.

Below are some posts I'd recommend for this.

You could also try to get some very high PR or high domain authority links sent your way. Sending them towards the page you want to rank is ideal, but may not necessarily work given your situation. (I'll elaborate in my next suggestion.)

If you pursue this, keep in mind that quality triumphs over quantity very highly. My recommendation, if you have the money to spare, is to drop $15 to $30 USD on some high PR blog comments from the BST's link building section of BHW.

My last suggestion is to create a blog about the keyword you want to rank for. Fill it with high-quality posts, interlink them and run it like you would a professional website. This shouldn't be too hard to do, as a WordPress.com blog can fulfill this need if you take advantage of things like teh WordPress Reader, Blog Comments, etc.

My suggested setup would be Blog Posts (Interlinked) -> Page about x -> Your Target Page.

You can also mix and match the above suggestions. For example, say you go with the third option. Throw some high PR links to your posts and your Page About X. This will greatly strengthen any rank gains you get.
